DORO (Germany)

Doro Pesch, dubbed the “Queen of Heavy Metal”, may not really need any major presentation, with a career spanning over three whole decades. With a beginning back in 1982 in the German heavy metal band Warlock to the first solo album “Force Majeure” in 1989 and forward… With no less than 13 solo albums and material from the Warlock era, House of Metal is proud to present this legend in the metal world as one of this year’s headlines on the Idun-stage.

CARCASS (UK)

Without a doubt, UK legends Carcass have released several classic albums over the years and changed the trajectory of extreme metal with each consecutive release. Whether it was inventing gore-grind with ”Reek of Putrefaction” (1988) and ”Symphonies of Sickness” (1989) or helping molding the template for melodic death metal with ”Heartwork” (1993), Carcass has always made records by which bars were set and rules were broken. Upon their untimely demise in 1996, the band resurrected in 2013 after an 18 year hiatus with the album ”Surgical Steel”. At the moment a new album is under works due to be released during 2020.

MARDUK (Sweden)

Marduk is a band that hardly needs any major introduction for anyone who has ever gazed upon the world of extreme metal. Since the beginning in 1990, the band has released countless of albums and toured in approx. 70 different countries with over 1300 concerts in the bag. The band visited House of Metal festival back in 2010 and now it’s finally time again – with the FIRST gig on their upcoming 30th anniversary tour, which will take place in 2020. The band will tear off songs from their entire career, tracks that have not been played in a long time will be dusted off together with material that has never before been played live.

I AM MORBID (US)

I Am Morbid was formed by David Vincent, the legendary front man (vocalist & bassist) of the genre-defining extreme metal purveyors, Morbid Angel. Alongside Tim Yeung (drums), Bill Hudson (guitar) och Kelly McLauchlin (guitar), the band performs Vincent-era classics from Morbid Angel’s ‘Altars of Madness’, ‘Blessed Are the Sick’, ‘Covenant’ and ‘Domination’ albums.

FREAK KITCHEN (Sweden)

Freak Kitchen is a band from Gothenburg founded by innovative & unique guitar virtuoso Mattias ”IA Eklundh. Completing the line-up is drummer Björn Fryklund and bassist Christer Hysén. Freak Kitchen’s style of music is an original, yet identifiable mixture of heavy metal, progressive avant-garde and Indian carnatic influences, paired with catchy songwriting, baffling rhythm structures and adventurous tonalities that escape genre labelling. Having established a passionate, loyal and ever-growing fan base, the band is steadily touring all corners of the world, lighting up the crowds at small clubs as well as vast festival venues with nine studio albums in the bag.

NERVOSA (Brazil)

Brazilian power-trio Nervosa has since their debut “Victim of Yourself” (2014) quickly built a career, with no less than three albums under their belt at the moment. Known for their raw aggression and “in-your-face” thrash riffs and gigs at most of the world’s biggest festivals as well as tours around the world, it is now time for the band to finally visit Sweden’s northern latitudes for the first time.

BEWITCHED (Sweden)

Thirteen years has passed since Umeå’s Bewitched stood on stage with their blackened form of speed/thrash/heavy metal. When the band finally gave some signs of life, House of Metal was obviously not hesitant in offering them a spot at the 2020-edition of the festival. For the uninitiated, the band was formed back in 1995 and has since then released five full length albums, as well as a couple of EPs and a live album. Among the members are experienced musicians that also can be found in bands such as Naglfar and others.

VOMITORY (Sweden)

The Swedish death metal legends Vomitory has since 1989 laid waste to stages all over the world and released eight successful albums before laying down their arms in 2013. In 2017 they reunited for one show at Summerbreeze Festival to honor an old friend. The band had such a good time playing again that the thought of future battles together started to grow like a seed in blood drenched soil. 2019 marked the 30th anniversary of Vomitory ‘s supreme death metal as they continue to celebrate since then by wreaking havok to stages all over the planet again. Death Metal Supremacy!

ONSLAUGHT (England)

Calling UK’s Onslaught a somewhat legendary Thrash Metal band is probably no understatement. Onslaught managed to release albums such as “Power from Hell” (1985), “The Force” (1986) and “In Search of Sanity” (1989) before the band called it quits. In 2005, however, original members Sy Keller (vocals) and Nige Rockett (guitar) decided to bring new life to the band. The new album “Killing Peace” (2007) and following albums have been well received by both old and new fans, as well as by the media. Prepare for a thrash metal attack with the power from hell!

BURNING WITCHES (Switzerland)

Burning Witches, founded in 2015, are not just one of the hottest exports from Switzerland. Well no, the Swiss girls are one of the most interesting newcomers in Old School Heavy Metal in the past years… worldwide! Burning Witches deliver powerful Heavy Metal, with influences from Power and Speed as well as traditional Metal. A sure recipe to get heads banging during this year’s festival.

DARKENED NOCTURN SLAUGTHERCULT (Germany)

Tradition, soul, coldness, stubbornness: this expresses the characteristics and trademarks of DARKENED NOCTURN SLAUGHTERCULT, a band that has grown and matured in the course of its 22-year existence into a distinctive institution of German Black Metal. DNS deliver a primarily classic, raw sound in the tradition of the Scandinavian (especially Norwegian) bands of the early and mid-nineties like Immortal, Darkthrone and Gorgoroth. The band released their latest album, ”Mardom”, in April 2019 via War Anthem Records.

SHRAPNEL (England)

After a Decade of Decimating the UK, supporting the likes of Overkill, Sepultura, Exodus, Death Angel, Destruction, Voivod, Suicidal tendencies and many more, Shrapnel finally make the leap to mainland Europe at House of Metal Festival in Sweden.

As well as riffs from the past 10 years Shrapnel will be unleashing new material from the upcoming 3rd album and raising hell in February 2020. See you in the pit Umeå!

FERAL (Sweden)

Feral, with their roots in Norsjö, started back in 2003 and has since then refined their HM-2 Death Metal to great heights. With three full-length albums in the baggage, the latest in the form of “Flesh for Funerals Eternal” (2018), it is finally time for this Northern band to return to a stage at the festival which they last visited in 2008.

BERZERKER LEGION (Europe)

Berzerker Legion is a 5-member coalition of death metal veterans from the European continent, formed in 2016 by guitarists Tomas Elofsson (Hypocrisy) and Alwin Zuur (Asphyx).

With a vision to create death metal of the highest quality they recruited a line-up of solid well-known musicians consisting of James Stewart (Vader) on drums (Nils Fjellström will be stand-in drummer at House of Metal), Jonny Pettersson (Wombbath) on vocals and Fredrik Isaksson (Dark Funeral) on bass to complete the Legion. And with decades of combined experience in both the studio as well as live performances, Berzerker Legion is ready to create and spread some top-quality death metal around the world.

BLACK BAY (Sundsvall)

Black Bay was formed in 2004 and has since released 2 albums, ”Feeding It” and ”Welcome Apocalypse”. At House Of Metal they will do however something special and perform their own favorite songs from one of the best bands ever, Metallica. Black Bay expects Umeå to offer haedbanging and sing-along in return!

CURSE (Norrköping)

Curse is a band of four from Södermanland, Sweden. Curse was formed in 2009 and were active until 2012. In 2018 the band rose from the grave with two original members and the addition of two new members. With a new demo recorded in october 2019, Curse will bring their rituals to the masses.

DEAD SLEEP (Malmö)

Hailing from Malmö, Sweden’s four piece thrash metal unit Dead Sleep have been around since 2016. Forging their special brand of music in between the chaotic aggression of hardcore punk and the bombast of metal, their sound picks the best from both old and new, falling into a strong tradition of eighties thrash metal while infusing it with a contemporary feel.

SANITY ASSASSIN (Umeå)

Sanity Assassin is a melodic death metal band from Umeå founded in 2010 by PO Wester and Jörgen Persson, as a side project to the death metal band Daemonicus. In 2015, Sanity Assassin released its debut album “A Function of the Human Condition”.

SIBERIAN (Linköping)

Siberian is a heavy metal band from Linköping, Sweden whose influences are drawn from the sludge and post-metal scene. Uncompromising walls of sound meets melody and melancholia. Post-metal inspired experimentation with sitars, flutes and bag-pipes. Faintest traces of atmospheric black-metal clashing with cranking moments of hardcore sludge.

SUFFER YOURSELF (Sweden)

Suffer Yourself comes from the darker side with its torturous Death-Doom, made in old-school way.
Slow and dark, but bursting with unstoppable blastbeats, music is designed to submerge listener into full spectrum of gloomy emotions and existential thoughts.
Powered by Swedish-Ukrainian lineup, Suffer Yourself has two full-length albums available and notable concerts played together with some of biggest bands of the genre.

Our creations will be interesting for fans of Evoken, Esoteric, Spectral Voice and Disembowelment and we will be pleased to share depth of the void with visitors of House Of Metal 2020!
